Florida No Fault Auto Insurance
Reader Question: Is it necessary to carry uninsured motorist coverage in a no-fault state such as Florida? This is understood. There is nobody who drives without insurance. You have to be covered and thus protected from financial ruin.
If you seldom have to carry passengers and you are with good health insurance that will cover any injuries that may happen then why do you have to carry uninsured motorist coverage? It only covers bodily injured and not damages.
The answer is that you do not have to.
In Florida you should have a PIP and because of that you will have a triple coverage if you have a good medical policy, PIP and Uninsured Motorist coverage.
Most of the medical care will pay only a limited pit. Then what will happen if you need a nurse to take care of you and your family. Your medical health will not pay for that.
Opposite of what is stated above you will need uninsured motorist coverage because it is good for lost wages. If because of an accident you will have to miss some time from work nobody will recoup the wages. Your health insurance does not provide such coverage.
Uninsured motorist also gives a pain and suffering benefit. If the person who hit you does not have the money to pay for the insurance, there is just a minimal amount of money that you may get from pain and suffering.
Because of that you have to get it.
