I am helping a friend of the family get her first new car, yahoo welcome to the world of debt! She is straight out of college, has little credit but what she has is pretty good credit and has a $1,000 cash to put down as a down payment. She can afford a monthly payment of no more than $300 and would really like to be in the $250 a month payment range.
I have always recommended to my auto repair shop customers in this position Honda Accord or Toyota Camry vehicles, but their price tags have been climbing in the recent years and these vehicles although great cars will not be in the payment range for my friend….not new anyway and she wants a brand new vehicle with a great warranty to protect her from auto repairs.
I just love the 2007 Kia Rio. Why? The vehicle has many features that you would expect like automatic transmission, a/c, power windows and door locks, cd player etc. etc. but what you don’t expect to see is the low sticker price.
A 2007 Kia Rio goes for about $14,000 with automatic transmission and A/C. With a standard shift transmission and NO a/c brings the sticker down to $9,999!!! In Houston……..you HAVE to have a/c in a car!!!
The Rio is a 4 door compact car but surprisingly it has tons of interior and trunk room. It also drives very nice, it’s fast, has a tight sporty car feel and get up to 33 MPG on the highway. Lorean made Kia Motors is breaking into our US car market and you will see and hear more good things from them in the immediate future.
I remember when the Toyota Celica hit the US market in the 70’s -80’s and people laughed and said people would never buy one…..hahaha boy did they!
If you are looking for a no frills, very economical and fun to drive compact vehicle, then I recommend you take a test drive today!

Special payment incentives!
Kia is rewarding recent 4 year college graduates with a $400 rebate. There is also a $1,000 Kia Rebate which brings the total rebates to $1,400 AND if you have somewhat good credit you might be eligible for 6.9% Kia financing. Which makes your monthly payment about $260….not bad.
