Reader Question
Austin,
Have you ever heard of this problem? I have a 2002 Chevrolet Impala. Two times (not consecutive) now in the last week the car has had, I think is the best way to describe, an electrical reset. I’m turning off the car after parking and as I do so, the power goes out (lights, clock). Usually everything stays on until the door has been opened.
Additionally, it almost sounds as if there is a release of air (probably not describing this the best) and the gauges flutter a little. When I restart the car, it starts normal however the clock has been reset to 12:00.
My mileage is unaffected as well as the stats (MPG, average speed, etc.). The second time it happened I was in a parking spot with a an incline. The first time, there may have been a small incline but not sure.
Hey there,
I would suspect a bad battery. Have your battery “load tested” to see if it is due for a change. If the battery is older than 4 years old, I would replace it regardless.
Blessings,
Austin Davis
