Ford Escort Tach Signal – Tachometer Problem

Posted by austin  Published in Ford

<p>Reader Question

Is their a sensor to control the tach gauge for a 1994 Ford Escort LX 5 speed trans

Hey there,

Hummmm, I would say that the tach probably gets it signal from the ignition module, but that the signal should be going to the computer and probably other sensors as well……..so if the engine is running…then the signal SHOULD be received by the computer.

If the engine is running, but your dash tach is not working…I would probably suspect a problem with the tach itself. If the engine is not running…..then you might not be sending a tach signal from the ignition module. You should have a 6 wire module on the distributor….right? If so, the 5th wire down (from top) is probably responsible for the tach signal)…..from my recollection anyway.

Blessings,

Austin Davis
