<p>Reader Question

Hello this is Donald and I was wondering if you have happened to see these so called performance chips sold on ebay for like around nine dollars and then seven or so for shipping do you think they are ok to use or are they junk and will ruin a guys car.

If you have not seen them go to ebaymotors and put in under asscories for the cars a 1997 Chevy Monte Carlo and it says 60+ horsepower and save gas to check it out and let me know what you think for sure. Thanks Donald

I stay clear of things like that. I know some DO work like they claim, but everything comes with a price….what does the rest of your engine think about working twice a hard to crank out that extra horsepower and what long term effect will it have??

In my opinion, it is not worth it unless you are a competitive racer or have lots of free time and money on hand. I also doubt seriously it would give you an additional 60 horsepower….maybe 6 or 16…but for 60, I kinda doubt it.
