Chevy Blazer – Can’t Turn The Ignition Key

Hi, I have a question, when I try to start my 1996 Chevy blazer the key wont turn over, like its stuck. I tried turning the wheel when turning the key,but it doesn’t work.

Hi there

Do you have another key to try? Make sure you are not on an incline that has the shift linkage in a bind. Try starting in neutral which could mean there is a linkage adjustment needed or a faulty neutral safety switch.

Other than that you might need a new ignition lock cylinder (part the key goes in) or a problem inside the steering column. Most big cities have a mobile lock company that also works on steering columns after a car theft, they would be a good person to call to avoid a tow fee
