My wife could be able to park in a parking lot a little easier and faster it would save us lots of money on gasoline purchases and give us warm fuzzies about helping our environment by consuming less natural resources.

So what could be wrong with that scenario? Well let’s just remember that the vehicles here in the U.S. are MUCH larger than most other countries. These larger and heavier vehicles could really ruin your day if you happen to get a little nudge by one of them.

I live in Texas, and drive a big ole truck…..you gotta if you live in Texas. I don’t think I will be trading in my keys for a “small or smart” car anytime soon.

I checked with snopes.com and they say the person inside the car LIVED, wow! Although many people thought it was one of those very small European “Smart Cars” it was actually a Ford Escape, a smaller SUV.

Can you see what is left of that Ford Escape car? Look in front of the red hood of the dump truck behind the ambulance, and behind the black dump truck bed. Being built “Ford Tough” is no match for two dump trucks. I won’t be following behind any large trucks anymore.

I would assume that most people who use the phrase “motor insurance” are referring to car insurance….auto insurance, not an actual insurance policy on the engine to your car. I hear motor car insurance mentioned with British speaking visitors more than Americans but who knows maybe they are Britains now living here in the States.

Why do people have to insure cars trucks etc. when they aren’t driving them?

I have 3 vehicles (yes I need all three) and I pay insurance on them even when I can only drive 1 at a time.

Hey Albert, they do offer “limited use” car insurance, which will give you a substantial price break because you are not driving these vehicles very often. You still want them insured for theft, vandalism, fire, and other acts of nature even when they are just sitting in the garage.

You only have to insure them if you have a lien against them….meaning you still owe money on them, if you own them 100%…you dont need to have insurance in force…except it will be illegal to drive on public roads without it.

I think comparison market offers the best rates……in my opinion anyway. Get a free no obligation quote from them from my site. make sure you tell them you dont drive these vehicles very much and want a limited use discount. Also tell them you keep these garage kept (if that is a true statement, it will lower your rates)

To the best of my knowledge, after the (DPS) Texas Department of Public Safety gets notification from your issuing SR22 auto insurance company that your policy has been canceled or terminated, or has lapsed they will take appropriate enforcement action.

If your SR-22 insurance is still required and you do not have a valid up to date SR-22 on file, your driving privileges and vehicle registration will be suspended…and that sucks!

Just gotta be confident, for one.

The main key to getting a good deal on anything is believing, or at least pretending to believe, that you are entitled to it and you know it. Confidence doesn’t cost a dime and it takes you a long way when it comes to getting bargains, or really getting anywhere. So, before you head out to that car lot, set yourself some goals and give yourself a boost in self esteem. Remember that they’re charging you more than necessary and they don’t have to. You can get those prices to go down and get a great deal on your new car. People do it all the time.

Secondly, prepare yourself. You can’t convince someone to give you what you want if you don’t have a very clear idea of what that is. You’ll just end up falling all over yourself in the negotiation process. Do some research online about your new car, and determine what the going price is and what you want the price to be. Also figure out the options that you want with your car, and how much they cost. It’ll only take you a couple of minutes to figure out how much is the lowest your new car is going for.

Start low and slow. Your salesperson thinks that you’ll accept the first price they offer you, so ward them off. By starting three hundred dollars below the price that you actually want, you can get lower prices out of the salesperson, because they will automatically offer you a price higher than you suggest.

Don’t forget, there’s more than one kind of great deal. Don’t get your heart set on that great price, because you might not be able to get it. But don’t forget that there’s more that you can do. If you can’t lower the price, you can get other kinds of deals, like an extended warranty. You might have to give up some of the expectations that you had, but that doesn’t ruin everything. The negotiation process is give and take.

I’m going to be moving to another state, but just for a short period of time. Do I have to get car insurance coverage in that state while I’m there?

Good question.

It really depends on how long you’ll be there. If you’re only going to be living there for a very short period of time, then it might not be necessary to actually get your car insurance policy in that state. However,just because you don’t have your policy in tha state doesn’t mean that you don’t need to be insured, because you do. Regardless of where you are at, so long as you’re driving, you’ll need to have car insurance on you,and preferably car insurance that fits that required by law in the state that you’re in. This applies when moving and even just traveling around the country.

If you’re going to be there for over six months, though, it is suggested that you go ahead and get your policy in the state you’re temporarily living in. Most policies expire after six months, anyway, so you can just wait until your insurance in your old state expires and then renew it in the new one. To avoid having to have insurance from the temporary state when you get back to your old state, you can just pay for your insurance over there month by month instead of signing up for a six month policy. This might cost you a little extra in installment plan fees, but it could be worth it to avoid any problems.

If you are going to be out of state for a long period of time, you should talk with your insurance agent to make sure that it will not cause any problems with your policy. It’s true that you are covered all over the United States, but if you aren’t going to be on your normal schedule for a large period of time then that might change your mileage, as well as your ‘drive to work’ normal use of your car. This could cause your prices to go up, so always check with your agent first to make sure.

Jumping a little ahead of things, Samuel.

Filing and processing a claim takes time, so don’t expect to get that check right away. I know we’d all like, after getting in a car accident, to receive our compensation immediately, but what you’re most likely in for is a long process that involves negotiating, talking, repairing, quoting prices, and possibly hiring a lawyer. It all depends on where you stand in regards to the accident, whether you were at fault or not, and whose insurance company you’re filing your claim with–your own, or the other driver’s.

That is also the main ingredient that determines how you will receive your check from the car insurance companies. It depends on whether you’re going to your own insurance company or you’re going to the auto insurance company of the other driver, who was the one at fault. If you’re going to your own insurance company, then your check for the settlement of your claim will probably be made out to both you and the repair mechanic. This is because they are paying both yourself for damages but also the mechanic for the repairs made on your car. If you are going to the insurance company an of the other, at fault, driver to make your insurance claim, then the check for your settlement will be made out to you and you alone.

What kind of coverage pays for what kind of damage to my car?

Auto insurance policies are broken down into several different types of coverages, which cover many different things. There are the coverages which deal with damages to your vehicle, those that handle injuries you or passengers in your car may sustain, those that deal with injuries sustained by the other driver and damage done to their vehicle, as well as any property damage caused by the car accident. It’s important to know what each part of coverage covers so that when you get into a situation where you need to file a clam, you don’t find yourself stuck out.

The two coverages that handle damages done to your car are comprehensive and collision. These are usually required if you are financing a car, be it new or used, so if you’ve ever bought a car before you’ve probably also bought comprehensive or collision insurance.

Comprehensive is basically a coverage that takes care of damage sustained by your car when it is not on the road. Well, not necessarily not on the road, but covers damage done to the car that is not caused by any kind of crash. This kind of damage is as the result of things like weather, for example. If you were in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina and your car was lost in the deluge, you could make a claim for it with comprehensive insurance. It also takes into account things like vandalism, so if you have your car beaten up and some tires slashed, you can make a claim for that, too. The incident in which it is most often used is if it is stolen.

Collision coverage covers just what it says it does. This will pay for any damages to your car that are sustained as a result of a collision. Now, it’s import to look at that last part. A lot of the time, people will get into an accident and try to claim damages that they already had at the time of the collision. This cannot be done. Only damages that occurred during or because of the accident itself.

How do you keep the cost of collision coverage down?

That’s a good question.

Car insurance costs a lost of money, and it costs even more if you go for fuller coverage by adding such options as collision or comprehensive coverage to your policy. These will automatically give a jump to the price of your premium, and cost much more than the minimum state requirement that you might be used to. Unfortunately, there are about only two ways that you can cut the high costs of collision insurance on your premium.

• Raise your deductible.
• Get rid of your collision coverage.

The second one doesn’t seem very reasonable, because if you have collision coverage, you probably want to keep it, so the only way to keep your coverage as it is and get lower prices for your collision part, is to raise the deductible. Raising the deductible cuts down on costs for car insurance companies, and thus on costs for you on your premium, because it means that if and when you should get into a car accident or collision, you will be paying out more and they will be paying out less, and because of this they can charge you less.

You might want to ask yourself, though, if you really need collision coverage of your car insurance policy. If you have a car that’s on the older side or has very high mileage racked up, it might be a better idea just to drop the collision coverage, because in the case of a crash, with a car like that, your insurance company will probably just declare the vehicle a total loss. They’ll do this because the vehicle has a low market value, and so it’s cheaper to just replace it completely than it is to repair it.
