Check Engine Light Honda Civic

This check enfine light goes on every couple years it seems. Last time I brought it in to the dealer and it was the Oxygen sensor , which was replaced. However this time it went on again and the dealer told me it could be 100 different sensors that could be initiating it. This sucks, as it costs 100 bucks to dignosis the problem to a computer hook up. I have no noticeable engine problem, or other symptoms that seem to be wrong.

Is it possible to turn this light off without bringing it in for repair??

Hi kiki,
The light is on because the computer has seen a problem with one or more of the systems it monitors or controls. The light can be turned off with a scan tool but if the problem is not repaired the light will just came back on again.

Some parts stores like AutoZone may be able to read and record the trouble codes stored in the computer, some do this at no charge. However do not confuse having the codes read with having the problem diagnosed, these are two completely different things. A trouble code only indicates the general area or system were a problem might be. A diagnosis is an involved process that requires special training and equipment in order to pinpoint the exact problem. There is much, much more involved than simply hooking the car to a computer.

If you have the trouble codes read and post the code numbers here we might be able to give you an idea of how serious the problem is and suggest what action you should take.
