Windshield wipers stuck in vertical position on intermittent speed.

Hi, I have this problem in my 02 Impala, where my windshield wipers will get stuck in a vertical position on an intermittent speed.  I replaced the motor and transmission crank arm but I still have the same issue.  The tab that stops the transmission arm isn't bent,  but it may be worn down a little bit, but I can't tell.  Anyways, the old transmission seemed not even to make the action that is suppose to, as if it were stuck.  Still though, it doesn't go into park position.  I really need some expert advice before i order a 200 dollar part and it not be my problem at all.  I honestly think thats the only thing it can be at this point.  Any advice would help, thank you.

So the wipers work OK on all speeds, the wipers just don't park? Does the washer work like its supposed to?

yeah, they work fine other than in intermittent speeds. were it pauses between wipes.  what do you mean by the washer?

You know, when you engage the windshield washer (without the wipers being on) and it sprays the windshield and the wipers make a couple passes,then go back to park.

yes, the washer function does work.

I don't have any info at home here but I'll try to remember to print out some stuff at work tomorrow, with the symptoms you described and post it, so you can check some stuff.
