Auto Repair Car Questions / Re: 1998 Toyota Camry LE Brake Noise
« on: September 06, 2012, 08:10:56 AM »
You can try this. Locate the bleed screw. On drum brakes, which is on the back side of the drum just above the axle. On disc brakes, the screw is closer to the engine on the back side of the caliper. Loosen the screw with a wrench to make it easier to loosen and tighten rapidly. Loose drum brakes also may need adjusting, because drum brakes use hydraulic and spring pressure to activate them. If you notice loose drum brakes after bleeding the line, consult a professional to have the drum brakes adjusted or replaced.

Auto Repair Car Questions / Re: white smoke in car

Sentra's head gasket just misfire and sometimes have white smoke. Most of the time the engine oils isn't affected. You just need to do the cylinder leak test. Also, check the coolant level. If it rises, you need a new head gasket.

Make sure the temperature gauge is working. If not you need to check your fuses. Make sure the fans come on, if you turn on the air conditioner, if not switch the relays in the relay box.

If the boots have been torn for a while, then dirty and other stuff may have gotten into the axle. If so, it would be better to replace the axle.

The coolant system might have exploded, loss of power steering and power breaks and there's water/coolant in the oil pan. From reading about other owners similar engine failures you can find out better remedy. If not, replace the power steering.

Probably the power steering unit going out, you have to check the fluid level in the power steering pumps or you may have problem with your tire balance. If so, you need take it to the tire shop and balance all of the four wheels.

Auto Repair Car Questions / Re: sparkplugs
« on: June 29, 2012, 07:38:38 AM »
I can understand that your spark plug shorted by excessive oil entering the combustion chamber. This is often caused by piston rings or cylinder walls that are badly worn. Oil may also be pulled into the chamber because of excessive clearance in the valve stem guides, or badly worn valve stem seals. If the PCV valve is plugged or inoperative, it can cause a buildup of crankcase pressure. This condition can force oil and oil vapors past the rings and valve guides into the combustion chamber.

Auto Repair Car Questions / Re: Stick shift fell down???
« on: June 28, 2012, 06:28:38 AM »
The shifter support may have either rusted out from under the shifter or broken loose from where it is mounted to the floor of the car. Since the hardware is above the exhaust system of the car, it seems to be difficult to get to without hoisting the vehicle and relocating or removing parts of the exhaust. Most times the shifter plate can be reattached but if sheetmetal is torn or rusted out, an alternative means of reattaching the plate is needed.

Replacing the compressor belt and tensioner would be a better remedy for your engine noise problem. Check your water pump. May be the water pump bearing is going wrong.

Auto Repair Car Questions / Re: What engine do I have?!
« on: June 26, 2012, 06:15:35 AM »
I would like to suggest this, raise and safety supports the vehicle, then drain the cooling system. Disconnect the upper radiator to thermostat housing hose  and remove the bolts, thermostat housing cover, O-ring seal and thermostat. Clean and inspect the O-ring seal, replace it if necessarily.
