Tip: Lower your Alaska insurance premiums be carrying higher deductibles. For car insurance, I personally carry a $1,000 deductible and the money I save on my premium I deposit into a special savings account I call my "accident fund".  I save approximately $400 a year due to this high deducitble, and since I have not had a claim in over 10 years you can see this special account growing at 7% a year can really add up!
