This is a typical disc brake rotor still mounted on the car. My thumb is touching the rotor itself and my finger is on one the lug nuts that the tire and wheel will be mounted to.

This brake rotor has groove being cut into it by a worn out brake pad. You can see this by the darker colored groove in the middle of the rotor surface.
