Broken Steering Column

Austin Davis, October 28, 2012September 30, 2014

My Camaro was stolen and recovered. The ignition was popped out. I need to start it; the thieves started it–how did they (hot wiring, I guess)? How can I start it?
Thanks
Original Owner & VIN

Hey there,

Sorry they took your ride, that is NOT cool! You can start the engine with a screw driver, pulling up on the ignition rack…..which is the part they break in the steering column.

I don t have a picture of a broken steering column to show you….but it should be on the side of the column where the key was, put your screw driver inside the slot of the rack and pull it towards you to start, push it back in to stop it.

The part you are looking for is the silver key looking part on the right side of this picture
